My name is Peter and I am a self-taught artist, and with over 70 exhibitions around Sweden and abroad I am an established artist, both in Scandinavia and other parts of the world.

 

My passion for art grew when I stepped into my grandfather's (Sven Eugén) studio at the age of 6 and I was completely taken by the atmosphere. The calm. The smell of all the colors. The solitude. And to create something from a blank white canvas to a masterpiece. In that moment I knew what I wanted to be, and I never let go of that dream. ​

 

I would like to describe my art as powerfully emotional and deeply rooted in the drama of nature. My watercolors capture not only the beauty of the Norrland landscape, but also its soul – the stillness, the light, the cold, the raw and the tender in one and the same image.

What distinguishes my works is that the volatile medium of watercolor manages to create a sense of both movement and stillness. It is as if nature itself breathes through one’s brush – sometimes stormy and dramatic, sometimes quiet and pensive. My color choices can often be seen as bold but balanced, and the compositions carry a kind of inner tension that makes you stay and look at them for a long time. You feel – rather than just see – my paintings. In short: I don’t just paint landscapes. I tell stories through them. ​ ​

Peter Eugén was born in 1978 and grew up in Sundsvall. Since 2007 he has lived and worked in Stockholm. (now living abroad) He began his career as a nature painter, but after moving to Stockholm he focused more on portrait painting and later Pop Art. Peter's art is mainly about two important points of inspiration, which always go apart but at the same time complement each other. city and countryside.
